41 Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. 42 When he was _________ years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom. 43 After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you."

49 "Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?" 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.

51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

39 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

BIBLE QUIZ:

It would appear that the Wise Men started out following the star when Jesus was born. However, they apparently had to travel a great distance (perhaps from as far away as India) to get to where Jesus was. Matthew 2:1 says, “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem”. Then in Matthew 2:11 it says the Wise Men came to the HOUSE to see the CHILD. They did not go to the manger they went to the house. Also, the Greek word used for CHILD is “paidion” (pahee-dee'-on); an infant, a childling (of either sex), or (by extension) a half-grown boy or girl. Also, in Matthew 2:16 we read, “When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were TWO YEARS OLD AND UNDER, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.”

The Bible does NOT say how many Wise Men came to see Jesus. It just says they gave three gifts. Could have been three Wise Men, but not necessarily, could have been two or maybe a dozen…we don’t know.

62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone's astonishment he wrote, "His name is John." 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 The neighbors were all filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. 66 Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, "What then is this child going to be?" [To have Faith in Christ] means, of course, trying to do all that He says. There would be no sense in saying you trusted a person if you would not take his advice. Thus if you have really handed yourself over to Him, it must follow that you are trying to obey Him. But trying in a new way, a less worried way. Not doing these things in order to be saved, but because He has begun to save you already. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You see the same canyon...just from the opposite side...the advantage....we saw eight vehicles in four hours at Point Sublime. At the South Rim you encounter THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AND VEHICLES every hour :0)
