"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." - C.S. Lewis

[One day] the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about _______, but who are you?" Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. "Reality, in fact, is usually something you could not have guessed. That is one of the reasons I believe Christianity. It is a religion you could not have guessed. If it offered us just the kind of universe we had always expected, I should feel we were making it up. But, in fact, it is not the sort of thing anyone would have made up. It has just that queer twist about it that real things have. So let us leave behind all these boys' philosophies--these over simple answers. The problem is not simple and the answer is not going to be simple either." - C.S. Lewis

Recently we had a Bible Trivia Challenge at church (on a Wednesday evening)...I did well, but one question I missed embarrassed me so I decided to remedy the problem. The question was to list the 10 commandments in order...we didn’t have to have all the exact detail...but enough to show we knew what they were...So I came up with an acrostic to help me remember them in order. I had it memorized in five minutes...maybe you will also find it helpful :0) This is based on the NKJV translation.

O = You shall have no other gods before Me.
I = You shall not make for yourself a carved image (or idol).......
V = You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain
----------------------------------------------------------------
S = Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy....
H = Honor your father and your mother....
M = You shall not murder.
A = You shall not commit adultery.
S = You shall not steal.
----------------------------------------------------------------
W = You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
C = You shall not covet your neighbor's.......

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!
Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against "tomorrow".
You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest your life in things that will have an eternal value. The clock is running.
