Today we are starting a trip to the summit of Mt. McClellan (near Georgetown). For most of the trip we are going to follow the roadbed of the long abandoned Argentine Central (narrow gauge) Railroad. But make no mistake about it……… the “shortcuts” between the switchbacks are definitely four wheel drive roads, and there are definitely some real cliff hangers as we climb to an elevation of 13,177’ feet. This is a photo taken just after we left the pavement where the road crosses over Leavenworth Creek. The pictures that will follow over the next couple of weeks are a combination of pictures taken through the years…the most recent are from a trip Ray and I did this past summer…
