This man and his wife were Christians in the early church at Jerusalem. They sold a piece of property and brought only a portion of the proceeds from its sale to Peter, claiming it represented the total amount from the sale. When Peter rebuked the husband for lying about the amount, he immediately fell down and died. His wife later repeated the same falsehood, and she also fell down and died.
