Aspen color at the beginning of Webster Pass. The photos for the next several days will be from our trip over Webster Pass a few weeks ago.
WEBSTER PASS (12,000') - From the east side the turnoff to Webster Pass is just below the final ascent to the east side Kenosha Pass and starts out as a good gravel road. At the lower elevations the road winds through dense aspen and pine forests and in and out of the stream while encountering several very rough areas. Once you reach timberline the roads turns into a narrow shelf road which has places that tip a vehicle out toward space. At one point we had to wait for quite awhile while a Jeep and some Quad Runners tried to get past each other on a particularly narrow section. Webster Pass is usually closed until August due to its VERY narrow trails being clogged with snow.
