BIBLE QUIZ:

New Testament - But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them (Peter and the apostles) forth, and said, “Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.” Early the next morning the apostles did as they were commanded and went into the temple and taught the people. However, when the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought out. But they found the prison shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we they found no man within. Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people. Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned. The counsel wanted to slay them but Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, who had a good reputation among all the people offered some other advice in regards to the apostles. What was his advice? (Pick one)

1) “Have the apostles severely flogged and send them on their way with a stern warning not to preach anymore in the name of Jesus.”

2) “Let the apostles alone because if this is the work of men, it will come to nothing, but if it is from God, you cannot overthrow it; lest you be found to be fighting against God.”

3) This is what the Gamaliel says: “Put these fellows in prison and give them nothing but bread and water for forty days, then release them with a stern warning not to preach anymore in the name of Jesus.”
